This set of two exquisitely detailed chromolithographs originates from Adalbert Seitz’s monumental entomological series Die Gross-Schmetterlinge der Erde (The Macrolepidoptera of the World), published between 1909 and 1915.

The plates feature a vibrant array of moths from the genera Nyctipao, Speiredonia, and Anua, shown in dorsal and ventral views. Each species is labeled with its Latin name and organized in a scientific manner, serving as a valuable reference for the identification and classification of Lepidoptera across the Palearctic region.

Adalbert Seitz (1860–1938) was a renowned German entomologist and lepidopterist. He is best known for Die Gross-Schmetterlinge der Erde, a comprehensive multi-volume study on butterflies and moths from around the globe. His work remains one of the most significant references in entomology, featuring detailed descriptions and vivid illustrations. Seitz's contributions greatly advanced the scientific understanding and classification of Lepidoptera.
