This finely engraved map was published by Thomas Cadell in London on October 6, 1800. It offers a comprehensive view of the southern portion of Norway, with detailed renderings of mountainous terrain, rivers, lakes, and settlements. Major towns such as Christiania (Oslo), Bergen, Stavanger, and Arendal are clearly identified, along with numerous inland routes and coastal features. The map uses both British statute miles and a local Norwegian scale, with dual longitudes marked from Greenwich and Ferro.
Thomas Cadell (1742–1802) was a major British publisher of the Enlightenment era, best known for his association with leading authors, scientists, and explorers.
