"Regni Hispania Delineatio"

This finely detailed map presents the entire Iberian Peninsula, including modern-day Spain and Portugal, with their internal divisions, cities, rivers, and coastal features. The engraving is embellished with a beautifully colored cartouche in the bottom right corner, featuring allegorical figures and a classical motif. Major cities such as Madrid, Lisbon, and Barcelona are clearly marked, as well as the Balearic Islands and surrounding bodies of water like the Mare Mediterraneum and Mare Occidentale.

Johann Christoph Weigel (1654–1725), also known as Weigel the Elder, was a prominent German engraver, publisher, and art dealer active in Nuremberg. He is best known for his detailed maps and illustrations, which combined baroque artistry with geographic precision. His work significantly contributed to the dissemination of cartographic and scientific knowledge in early modern Europe.
