"Totius Fluminis Rheni Accurata Delineatio"

The map presents a detailed representation of the Rhine River from its source to its mouth, shown across two engraved panels. The upper section illustrates the river’s course through Switzerland and southern Germany, while the lower section traces its route through western Germany and into the Netherlands. This finely engraved work includes rich topographical and political detail and features a decorative cartouche with allegorical elements in the lower left corner. The title is also inscribed in a contemporary Swedish hand above: Rehnflodens område (The Rhine River Area).

Johann Christoph Weigel (1654–1725), also known as Weigel the Elder, was a prominent German engraver, publisher, and art dealer based in Nuremberg. He is recognized for his detailed maps, historical illustrations, and contributions to cartographic and scientific literature. Weigel's works reflect the intellectual and artistic trends of the late Baroque period, combining aesthetic finesse with geographical accuracy.
