9 Alain Manesson Mallet (1630–1706) –Set of 2 Hand-coloured maps - Map of Germany - Map of Poland (1683)

”Les Dix Cercles d'Allemagne” & ”Allemange en generale”
This original double-map sheet by Alain Manesson Mallet features two miniature engravings from Description de l’Univers (Paris, 1683). The upper map shows the general layout of the German states (Allemagne en général), while the lower map presents the imperial administrative division known as Cercles d'Empire. Both engravings are delicately hand-colored and bordered in yellow and black, typical of the first edition. The reverse side retains the original French explanatory text, detailing the structure and historical context of the Holy Roman Empire's regions, providing essential historical background.
