168 Axel Wallert (1890–1962) – Archipelago People / Skärgårdsfolk – Engraving(1918)

Axel Wallert (1890–1962) was a Swedish painter, graphic artist, and printmaker known for his depictions of Nordic landscapes, maritime life, and folklore. He studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts and was a central figure in early 20th-century Scandinavian graphic art. His woodcuts often highlight rural and seafaring communities with expressive contrast and rhythmic linework. Wallert’s works are represented in several Nordic museums and print archives.
