57 Frederick Bloemaert (c.1614–1690) after Abraham Bloemaert (1566–1651) – Engraving – Saint Odulphus, Canon of Utrecht (c. 1640)

This engraving depicts Saint Odulphus (also known as Odolphus), a canon from Brabant, portrayed with devotional intensity, standing in clerical robes and reading from a sacred book. At his feet lie a breviary and his clerical bonnet. A faint halo radiates behind his head, indicating his sanctity. The Latin caption beneath the image offers biographical details and places the figure within a historical ecclesiastical lineage. The work belongs to a series of twelve prints showing bishops and prelates of Utrecht.
Saint Odulphus was born in Oirschot, North Brabant, and became a missionary following in the footsteps of Saint Boniface, spreading Christianity to the Frisians. He died in 855 AD, and his feast day is celebrated on June 2nd. The Odolphus name later became associated with clerical and noble families in Northern Europe, including Groningen and Leeuwarden.
The work was published in the Netherlands around 1640.
