Large antique engraving originates from Giocondo Albertolli, Giacomo Mercoli and Giuseppe Piermarini’s ”Ornamenti diversi, inventati, disegnati ed eseguiti da Giocondo Albertolli, professore d'ornati nella reale Accademia delle belle arti in Milano incisi da Giacomo Mercoli Luganese”. The work was published in Milan, 1796.
Giocondo Albertolli (1742–1839) was a Swiss-Italian architect, sculptor, and decorator known for his elegant neoclassical designs. He specialized in ornamental stucco work and contributed to the decoration of prestigious buildings, including the Royal Palace of Milan. As a professor at the Brera Academy, he influenced many artists and architects of his time. His refined and intricate designs played a key role in the development of neoclassical interior decoration in Italy.
