This lovely set of 6 copper engravings is from Georges-Louis Leclerc de Buffon’s ”Histoire naturelle, générale et particuliére” (General and specific natural history). The works were published in Paris, 1825.

"Histoire Naturelle" is an extensive multi-volume work authored by the French naturalist and scientist Georges-Louis Leclerc Comte de Buffon ( 1707 - 1788). The book stands as one of the most important and influential scientific compositions of its era, representing the culmination of many years of research and observations by the author.
