James D. Smillie (1833-1909) was an American artist known for his work as an engraver and etcher, particularly in the field of landscape art. He was born in New York City and began his artistic training under his father, James Smillie, who was also a prominent engraver.

Granville Perkins (1830-1895) was an American artist known for his contributions to illustration and natural history art. He specialized in depicting birds and fish, often with great detail and accuracy.
