These lovely prints originates from "The Great and Small Voyages" written by Johann Theodor de Bry. Theodor de Bry was a German engraver and publisher who began the influential series "The Great and Small Voyages" in 1590, which documented and illustrated early European explorations of the Americas and the East Indies.
"The Great and Small Voyages" were published in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. The work on this series was started by Theodor de Bry, who released the first part in 1590 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. After his death in 1598, his sons, Johann Theodor de Bry and Johann Israel de Bry, continued the publication, completing "The Great Voyages" and beginning "The Small Voyages." These publications became one of the most important collections of travel narratives and discoveries of that era.
