21 Francesco Bartolozzi - A Sacrifice (after Guercino)
Description
This magnificent print in large folio format is from work ”Gio, Francesco, Barbieri, detto il Guercina a Cento" with paintings and drawings by Giovanni Francesco Barbieri (1591-1666), known as Guercino, one of the most important Italian Baroque painters and a leading representative of the Bolognese Baroque painting, engraved in copper by the Italian engraver, draftsman, and publisher Francesco Bartolozzi (1728-1815).
The work was published by Francesco Bartolozzi in London, 1764. He hailed from the small town of Cento in the province of Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna region in Northern Italy, and worked between 1621 and 1623 in Rome, where he had his most fruitful period of creativity.
